Martha Stewart reignites feud with Ina Garten by refuting claims about why they fell out

Martha Stewart has claimed that former friend Ina Garten stopped speaking to her after she went to prison, in a new interview.

The housekeeping expert, 83, appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Sunday, where she discussed rumors about her friendship with the renowned American chef, 76.

While both culinary legends agree that their friendship turned sour in the early 2000s, they differ on the reasons for the rift.

Garten previously claimed they simply lost touch when Stewart — who attended the premiere of her Netflix documentary Martha on Monday — moved away.

However, Stewart told Cohen that her friend stopped speaking to her after she was sentenced to prison in 2004.

Cohen asked Stewart — who was joined by Snoop Dogg during the show — if she’d read Garten’s new memoir, Be Ready When Luck Strikes.

“I read parts of it,” she replied.

After he asked her if she had “read the bits about you,” she said, “Oh, yes.”

‘What was your opinion?’ Andy asked.

“She can write whatever she wants,” Martha replied.

After a confused Snoop asked about what Ina had written, Andy explained: “Ina said they fought because she moved to Connecticut.”

“That’s not true,” Stewart countered.

Meanwhile, Snoop added, “Martha doesn’t fight with people.”

Stewart then claimed that two stopped talking to each other “after I went to prison.”

“Yeah, because that’s where I came in,” Snoop added humorously.

Stewart previously addressed their fight in a New Yorker profile of Garten, saying: ‘When I was sent to Alderson Prison, she stopped talking to me. I found this extremely distressing and extremely hostile.

Her publicist later told the magazine that she was “not bitter at all and there was no bad blood.”

Meanwhile, Garten “firmly” denied that Martha’s prison sentence had anything to do with the fight between them.

Stewart and Garten met in the 1990s while living in the Hamptons.

Garten contributed a column to Martha Stewart Living, while Stewart played a key role in securing Garten’s first book deal by bringing a publisher to Garten’s specialty food store, The Barefoot Contessa.

Martha spent five months in prison in 2004 after being found guilty on charges including conspiracy and obstruction of justice in connection with the stock sale.

On Monday, Martha wowed as she attended the premiere of her Netflix documentary, titled Martha, at the Paris Theater in New York City.

She wore a lilac zip-up jacket, metallic silver pants and peep-toe high heels. The star was joined by Sting’s wife Trudie Styler, 70, who cut an elegant figure in a cream coat and skirt.

Fashion designer Tory Burch, 58, was also in attendance and looked chic as ever in an oversized black coat with a gold belt buckle.

Jamie Tisch, 56, rocked a beaded snakeskin coat and matching high heels for the occasion.

Writer Candace Bushnell, 65, glowed in a sparkly navy blue minidress and heels.

Others in attendance included Jane Cha Cutler, RJ Cutler, Trevor Smith and Alina Cho.

The upcoming documentary follows the lifestyle icon from her teenage years, when she worked as a model, to becoming the first self-made female billionaire in the United States, according to Netflix’s press release.

The film also “illuminates Stewart’s upbringing in a working-class family and forces us to reconsider the scandal that sent her to prison.”

‘I was a trophy for these idiots. I was dragged into solitary confinement, without food or water. These promoters should have been placed in a Cuisinart and turned on,” says Martha in the trailer.

The documentary is scheduled to arrive on Netflix on October 30th.
